One can’t discuss the 90s emo scene without mentioning Rainer Maria. Sadly the band broke up in 2006, but its spirit is alive in the solo output of its songwriter and guitarist Kyle Fischer.
Fischer’s solo career started while Rainer Maria was still active. When he released “Open Ground” on Polyvinyl Records in 2001, his delicate and poetic musical style was already well known. In the ashes of Rainer Maria, he launched the “End Up Records” label and provided support for a number of artists. The label has released recordings by Caithlin de Marrais, also formerly of Rainer Maria, Balthrop, Alabama, Ne’er Do Evers, Seb Leon and others. Fischer’s own second solo effort was also released on End Up Records. Fischer is slowly but steadily walking down a new path. |
